Meet Miss Julia

Hi, I’m Miss Julia! I’m an artist, educator, and the heart behind The Artful Nest. From the moment I could grab a pencil, I was an artist. I remember gleefully running from room to room dragging a marker along the walls. When my parents ran out of magic erasers, I started painting murals on the walls with lotion!

I truly believe every child is an artist with something meaningful to say and something beautiful to create. Like Picasso said, “All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”

My goal is to show my students that they are—and can always be—artists. I help them channel their naturally creative minds into personal pieces they can be proud of and help them learn to focus, create, heal, and problem solve with real techniques from my years of art training.

Art classes in my own childhood helped me see that I had the ability, the desire, and the talent to create, while offering me a space that felt safe, playful, and full of possibility. That’s exactly why I created The Artful Nest: a place where kids feel inspired, encouraged, capable, and excited to make and explore.

My personal art specialties are portraits, sculpting, drawing and mixed media work. I have over 10 years of childcare experience and personal art experience, and I am the curator at the Compass gallery on Center Street in Provo.
